In 2025 we were very pleased to be nominated as one of the Soroptimist International Liverpool’s Charities of the Year. The SI President Pat Perkins is passionate about supporting the Deaf community and continues to join forces with MSDP to make a difference. You can read more about Pat, and her personal connection to the Deaf community through her brother Jimmy, here.
Together with Soroptimist International and Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, we organised a Health Event in September 2025, where 47 health checks were completed. 40% of those checked were referred to their GPs for further investigations and a BSL999 call was placed for an ambulance, where the patient was admitted to A&E on suspicion of having a heart attack. You can read more about the day here.
MSDP have also attended a Soroptimist International meeting to provide Deaf Awareness training, which everyone really enjoyed. Over the last year we have built a wonderful working partnership.
As part of their Centenary year (2026 to April 2027) and as a lasting legacy of their relationship with MSDP, the Soroptimist’s have successfully secured funding to support training for a BSL Level 3 student. As a women’s group they are keen to identify a woman or young girl who needs financial support to achieve this qualification.
This week MSDP are also incredibly grateful to have received a generous cheque for £500 from the Soroptimists, which will be invested back into our community.
We are so appreciative of the Soroptimist International group’s support, and we look forward to continuing to work with them. Thank you so much!
