On Monday 12th October we held fire safety training for all Fire Marshals at our head office. The session took place from 9.30am to 1.30pm and included staff, managers and community volunteers.
The training combined classroom learning with practical exercises to help participants understand their responsibilities and respond appropriately in the event of a fire. We took lots of photos on the day, which you can see at the bottom of the page.
Classroom learning and practical experience
The session included 3 hours of classroom-based training, covering key aspects of fire safety and the role of a Fire Marshal. This was followed by an hour of outdoor practical training, during which participants had the opportunity to practise using fire extinguishers.
The training provided clear, practical information that participants could apply in their roles at MSDP.
Feedback from staff was very positive. Participants found the session well structured and easy to understand. They also commented that the trainer was knowledgeable and explained the information clearly, using relevant examples. We would like to say a massive thanks to Jim our trainer from UK Fire Training for a really good day.
Recent staff training at MSDP
Fire safety is one of the training sessions we run, so far in 2026 staff have also undertaken:
- Professional Boundaries Training – September 2026, for all staff
- First Aid Training – July 2026, for all first aiders
- Safeguarding Training – March 2026, for all staff
- Equality, Diversity and inclusion Training – January 2026, for all staff
- Lone Worker Training – January 2026, for all staff
At MSDP we strive to create a safe environment for our staff, volunteers and community members, and ensuring that everyone is confident and trained in their roles is a really important part of that.
