On 13th December 2025, we were delighted to host our Children and Families Christmas Party at Lister Steps in The Old Library. The event brought together 83 attendees, including parents and children from a wonderful mix of d/Deaf, hard of hearing, and CODA families, making it a truly inclusive and festive celebration.
The party was filled with Christmas-themed fun and activities for all ages. Children enjoyed making reindeer food, decorating Christmas baubles, and getting creative with festive colouring sheets. We also created a dedicated baby and toddler corner, complete with soft mats and sensory toys, ensuring our youngest attendees had a safe and engaging space to explore.
One of the highlights of the day was MSDP staff member Stuart dressing up as a cheeky Christmas elf, delighting the children by making balloon animals and balloon swords. Laughter filled the room during the parachute game, which brought children and families together in a shared moment of fun.
The excitement continued with a very special visit from Father Christmas, who spent time with each child and gave them a gift to take home.
Feedback from Families
The response to the party has been incredibly positive. We’ve received lovely messages from parents thanking us and sharing how much their children enjoyed the day. Many families have also said they are already looking forward to our future events, which is wonderful to hear.
Our Families Service – Growing Together
Over the last couple of months, our Families Service has continued to grow, and we now have 45 families registered. Our community includes d/Deaf, hard of hearing, and CODA families, with some travelling from as far as Bolton to be part of our activities.
Funding and Fundraising
The Forrester Family Trust funding has now ended, but we’re excited to be planning fun fundraising events throughout the year that families can get involved with. If you’d like to support our work, you can make a donation through our donation page.
Looking Ahead to 2026
We’re currently planning a fun activity for February half term. We’d also love to organise a monthly Friday activity for families, such as a games night, to provide regular opportunities for families to connect and have fun.
