Duty Sessions (Advice & Support Service)

We provide 1:1 advice sessions to support people with all levels of hearing loss who are over 16 and live in Wirral, Sefton or Liverpool. Our Advice and Support Officers give our clients the confidence and knowledge to solve problems and advocate for themselves.

Our highly trained staff have a wealth of knowledge of current as well as historical issues surrounding Deafness and Deaf Blind accessibility to important services, barriers and personal hardships.

Our team are able to communicate using the following methods:

British Sign Language (BSL), Sign Support English (SSE), Deaf Blind Hands-on/Manual, International Sign Language

Some of the things we can help with:

  • Housing related support
  • Accessing health services or appointments
  • Managing finances and household bills
  • Accessing welfare benefits.
  • Translation of letters
  • Making phone calls or making complaints.
  • We can also signpost you to other services.

We enable clients to be involved in making their own decisions by offering advice and guidance.
Please note, we do not offer an advocacy service and therefore cannot work on behalf of the client, we do, however, work with the individual to ensure their problems are dealt with by the right people.

For clients who reside within the Knowsley Council area, please see Knowsley Deaf Service – Deafness Resource Centre for drop-in times at MSDP offices and Prescot Town Hall.
