The course lasts 3 hours, can be held here at MSDP in Liverpool or we can deliver at the booker’s venue if they prefer. We will accept a maximum of 16 people.
I found the session invaluable experience of using BSL to speak to deaf or speech impaired people. All my peers who I sat with agreed that BSL should be taught in schools more and that it made us aware of how difficult it would be to communicate with deaf patients on placement. It gave me an appreciation of the boundaries they have to cross in healthcare and I now feel like I have the knowledge to help somewhat. I liked how it was very clinically relevant for example teaching us the BSL terms allergy and breathing, and also giving us a role play scenario to do as if we were in GP.
