Improve the way that you communicate with Deaf people & people with hearing loss.
Our online course will help you understand the challenges that Deaf people face & suggest actions to ensure that your workplace is welcoming & accessible.
We have been providing face-to-face Deaf awareness training for over 25 years and have received some fantastic feedback during that time. To share our skills and knowledge with a wider audience, we have created two Deaf Awareness e-learning modules – Deaf Awareness for Everyone and Deaf Awareness for the Health and Social Care sector.
Visit our Deaf Aware website for a full breakdown of the modules, or watch the video to find out more.
Why take the course
1 in 5 people (RNID, 2020) have some kind of hearing loss.
That is a big section of society (some 12 million people) who to struggle access services – particularly in healthcare, retail and hospitality.
Ensuring your staff are deaf aware can make your business / organisation stand out as a welcoming, inclusive space that people with hearing loss enjoy visiting. What’s more, when you complete the course you will be able to demonstrate this by displaying our ‘proud to be deaf aware’ poster.
The course can be completed in under 2 hours so it can deliver a big impact with a small time commitment.
Money raised will help support MSDP’s work with Deaf people & people with hearing loss.
How to access the course?
You can access the e-learning directly through our website, or you can drop the SCORM file into your own LMS.
If you have been on our Deaf Awareness training before and are looking for a refresher, or are simply interested undertaking some Deaf awareness training, then please take a look at the Deaf Aware website to find out more!
Why learn with MSDP?
MSDP has been around for over 160 years, supporting people with hearing loss and the Deaf Community in Merseyside. Most of our staff are Deaf and our frontline staff can communicate in BSL, International Sign Language and Deaf-Blind Tactile Communication.
Our Deaf Awareness training has been created by Deaf professionals, in close collaboration with members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
The deaf awareness e-learning is absolutely brilliant and I love how the lived experience videos flow through the whole package. Huge well done to all involved in putting it together – you should all be really proud.
