Confidentiality

Merseyside Society for Deaf People have strict requirements of confidentiality principles towards all information whether verbal, written, electronic or any other form of information, in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Under the Data Protection Act, any breach of confidentiality is an offence and can lead to legal proceedings.

All individuals who have dealings with Merseyside Society for Deaf People including but not limited to employees, contractors, consultants, agency workers, Trustees and volunteers are required to read, sign and abide by this statement of confidentiality.

During your time with the Charity, you may observe or hear confidential information about clients, staff and Trustees of Merseyside Society for Deaf People. It is a contractual requirement that you shall not, divulge to any persons, firm, company or other organisations whatsoever any confidential information that belonging to Merseyside Society for Deaf People, which comes to your knowledge during your contractual relationship. Unless authorised to or required by your duties under your contract. In addition use of any information for your own benefit or gain is prohibited.

The restriction shall cease to apply to any information or knowledge, which may subsequently come into the public domain other than in breach of this clause.

All records, documents and other papers, together with any copies or extracts thereof, made or acquired by you in the course of your relationship with Merseyside Society for Deaf People must be returned when your contract/ voluntary arrangement ceases.

In order to undertake work with and behalf of Merseyside Society for Deaf People, all workers are required to complete a Confidentiality Contract.
